Iron Will

admin | February 8th, 2011

Iron WillDogs and sleds raced all over the place and all through the movie Iron Will. This movie was about a young man who teamed up with his late father’s lead dog to take part in a 500-mile dogsled race from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to St. Paul, Minnesota.

Over harsh winter terrain with no less harsh competitors and a finale which made me think, for a very brief moment, that the director was using the wrong script by mistake.

Lady and The Tramp

admin | February 28th, 2011

Lady and The TrampWhat’s so interesting about a cartoon that is more than fifty years old? That’s how old the movie Lady and The Tramp is. Old, yes. Outdated, never.

This is a great movie about a species that had been man’s constant, loyal companion for more than fifteen thousand years. And no, I am not talking about the little woman. Dogs and man have been friends for a long time. An old relationship, yes. An outdated relationship, never.

Snow Dogs

admin | April 2nd, 2011

Snow DogsThe motion picture Snow Dogs was about a Miami dentist who had much more success with pulling canines rather than canines pulling him.

All it took was a will to get Ted, the dentist, to fly to Alaska to find out that he was suddenly the owner of a team of unfriendly Huskies. And be told that the surest way of getting a hostile dog to submit to him was to bite it on the ear.

Space Buddies

Space BuddiesThe Russians may be the first to launch a dog into orbit around the earth but it was Walt Disney that put not one but six dogs on the moon.

The movie Space Buddies had the five Golden Buddies teamed up with a Russian canine cosmonaut to go where no paws had ever been before. Moonwalk on the lunarscape and fiery re-entry sequence included. Courtesy of highly advanced science and technology in cinematic simulation.

That Darn Cat!

admin | July 19th, 2010

That Darn Cat!In That Darn Cat, the unintentional appearance of a feline passerby led the FBI (Federal Bureau of Incompetence?) on a merry chase round sundry backyards, carparks and even under the bed a few times before the villains were caught.

Maybe the villains gave up because they got tired of being upstaged by a cat. And, mind you, the cat was just passing by on his way to pick up his little tabby and kittens.

The Aristocats

admin | July 19th, 2010

The AristocatsThe movie The Aristocats began with just four cats and ended up with a whole lot more. All despite the efforts of the butler who wanted to remove the cats who preceded him in his employer’s will and ended up being totally removed himself.
Starting in Paris, this movie leads its viewers all over the country-side before getting back to the mansion where it all began. With an explosion in the local feline population.
